At the end of the Meiji era, Suekichi Sasaki, who studied under Gozaemon Masunaga, the founder of the Fukui eyeglass industry, eventually was entrusted with the accounting office, and Masunaga is said to have told him the following.

“Sasaki-kun, become independent and work with celluloid. From now on, an era of stylish glasses, mainly for women, will come. At that time, celluloid will surely play a major role.”

Thus began the history of Sasaki Celluloid.

For over 100 years since then, Sasaki Celluloid has continued to produce high-quality eyewear, changing materials from celluloid to acetate, but always maintaining excellence.
